Coalition Against Trafficking Against In Women (CATW)

Dismantling the Systems That Fuel Trafficking

Founded in 1988, the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW) is one of the oldest international organizations dedicated to ending human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and girls. From its headquarters in New York City, CATW works across six continents, partnering with survivor leaders, grassroots advocates, and international coalitions to dismantle the systems of inequality—misogyny, racism, poverty, and violence—that fuel the global sex trade.

CATW has been instrumental in elevating survivor leadership at every level, from community-based advocacy to the United Nations, and has built a reputation as a trusted convener of abolitionist movements worldwide. Their work is rooted in the belief that lasting change comes when survivors themselves shape the policies, practices, and cultural narratives that protect women and girls.

What This Grant Makes Possible

For more than three decades, CATW has played a pioneering role in the global movement to end the trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and girls. From New York to Bangkok, CATW has cultivated diverse coalitions, advanced survivor-centered policies, and shifted cultural narratives to center the dignity of women and girls.

At the heart of their work is a commitment to amplifying voices too often ignored—Black, Brown, Asian, Indigenous, and disabled women and girls disproportionately targeted by traffickers. CATW has helped transform the global conversation by ensuring survivor expertise is recognized as essential to solutions for ending sexual exploitation.

“Our success lies in having contributed to a growing, global movement of sex trade survivors who are key leaders in raising awareness and developing responses, from local communities to the United Nations.” – CATW

CATW’s record of catalyzing systemic change is built on challenging harmful cultural narratives and strengthening survivor-led abolitionist movements across continents.

Build cross-border coalitions that unify local voices into a global movement.
Shape cultural narratives that expose the realities of exploitation while offering a vision of justice and equality.
Produce credible research and storytelling tools that inform communities and strengthen survivor movements.

CATW is not just responding to sexual exploitation—they are cultivating a global environment where survivor-led solutions drive change.

Explore the Work. Support the Mission.

CATW’s vision is bold: a world where no woman or girl is bought, sold, or exploited. Their track record—securing global recognition for survivor voices, building cross-continental networks, producing groundbreaking research, and shifting culture—demonstrates what is possible when policy is guided by lived experience.

By investing in CATW, we are fueling a survivor-centered global movement that not only challenges the systems that enable exploitation but builds a future where women and girls everywhere can thrive free from violence and oppression.
